My grandmother always said, “Make sure you have lipstick and a pair of earnings on first thing in the morning. You never know who will be calling!” (She also said “Always wear clean underwear”.) Of course….both make sense…I think!
Jewelry was always been something that I have purchased and love wearing! That hasn’t changed…where I buy my jewelry has!
I have the privilege to travel with Act 4 The Nations, act4nations.com. It is on these trips that I meet women and children of all ages. Many of these new acquaintances live with out electrical power and running clean water. It is not uncommon for these lovely ladies to walk to get their water and It amazes me how they carry it back in a container on their head…and get busy cooking on open flames within their modest homes.
These very women are such hard workers and are passionate about providing for their families, just like you and me! It is always so exciting when we have the opportunity to support them by buying items they create and sell!
Beautiful pieces made by hands that were rescued from human trafficking, work slavery, brothels, refugees that fled for their life, and some freed from human circuses. Hearing their heroic stories of getting to freedom is inspiring – then to be able to wear their story brings me so much hope and comfort! Receiving a compliment about a piece of jewelry I wear crafted by hands that have suffered so much enables me to share their voice, to be their voice – what an honor!
Yes, my jewelry has a voice…
Blessings,
Barb
